Personalization (v3, Spec 6.4)
Where to personalize vs keep consistent.
The Personalization panel (Insights in each report) helps teams decide where personalization makes sense. It identifies decision points where user segments diverge, repeated patterns that could adapt to behavior, and content that could personalize without breaking consistency.
Safe to personalize
High value, low risk. Examples: dashboard widget order (let users reorder/hide), onboarding path (branch by role). Each opportunity shows current state, proposed change, impact, and risk. Recommendation: e.g. "Add drag-to-reorder + show/hide."
Do not personalize
High risk or unclear value. Examples: primary navigation (users rely on consistent wayfinding), checkout flow steps (legal/compliance requires standard process). Keep these consistent for all users.
Guardrails
Rules engine: "Do not personalize wayfinding elements." Consistency checklist before enabling personalization. A/B test recommendations for validation. With analytics, user segment flow overlays show where different personas navigate differently.
