Accessibility & colorblind (Addendum A)

Use Blue Painter with screen readers and colorblind-safe mode.

Keyboard navigation

All interactive elements are keyboard-accessible. Use Tab to move focus and Enter/Space to activate. A "Skip to main content" link appears at the top of dashboard pages (focus with Tab); it moves focus to the main content for keyboard and screen-reader users (Addendum A).

Screen readers

The app uses ARIA labels and semantic HTML. Status and severity are announced with icons and text, not color alone. Analysis reports flag WCAG 2.2–related issues (contrast, focus, tap targets) when found in designs.

WCAG 2.2 contrast in design analysis (v3)

Blue Painter computes text/background contrast and flags violations. AA thresholds: normal text ≥ 4.5:1, large text (≥ 18pt or 14pt bold) ≥ 3:1, UI components/icons ≥ 3:1. AAA is stricter (7:1 normal, 4.5:1 large). Focus indicators and tap targets (≥ 44px) are also checked.

WCAG 2.2 new criteria (Addendum A 6.3): target size, dragging vs simple clicks, consistent help and guidance patterns are considered where applicable.

Colorblind-safe mode

Enable colorblind mode in Settings to add borders, icons, and patterns alongside color. Status indicators (success, error, warning) use shapes and labels so they’re distinguishable for protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, and achromatopsia (full colorblind).

Reduced motion

Blue Painter respects the system prefers-reduced-motion preference and disables animations when requested.
